A Statement and Show of Support

As part of an effort to create a safe space for the LGBTQ community amongst the Community Leagues, a statement and a series of posters were created that could be displayed in community halls, denoting that the Community League and its hall are safe and respectful of the LGBTQ community.

For individual versions and to have a specific Community League named at the top of a poster, please email

LGBTQ+ Do’s and Dont’s

This resource document exists to help educate the reader about how to respectfully and inclusively engage with the LGBTQ people in their lives or in their community.

The resource is divided into four parts these would be:

Do’s – General

    • This addresses how a person should treat someone who is LGBTQ with respect. It comments on ways general to the whole community as well as for specific identities such as transgender people

Dont’s – General

    • This section touches on what should not be said or what actions should not be done with regard to treating LGBTQ people with respect.

Do’s – Coming Out

    • In this section, the resource covers how to properly respond and support someone who has either come out to you or has recently come out to others.

Dont’s – Coming Out

    • The final section addresses how someone should not act when someone has come out to you or others.

LGBTQ+ Mythbusting

There’s a great deal of misinformation that exists about the LGBTQ+ community and that is still spread to this day. Often times those who are spreading this wrong information are unaware that the “facts” they may know are actually myths. Thus in an effort to address these myths, the LGBTQ+ Mythbusting project was developed. The hope of this project is to help people learn the truth about the LGBTQ+ community and help prevent the spread of these myths to more people.

The project is made up of three different individual components. These would be an information document, a worksheet/answer key and an online quiz. The information sheet is exactly as advertised. It addresses some of the most pervasive myths that exist about the LGBTQ+ community and explains why they’re wrong. The worksheet can be used by a demographic and is an opportunity to work with a group in a more engaging way to educate on this topic. Finally, the quiz exists as an engaging opportunity for an individual, more hands-on form of education.
