In the Showcase section of our newsletter it was unclear that the Winter Festival and Family Day were two separate events.  Pictures from both are represented there and the tags are not necessarily by each event. Our apologies to Riverbend Community for not including an article about their event.

Riverbend’s Family Winter Festival held on Sunday, February 24 was a huge success.

Snow Shoveling Assistance for Seniors

With winter around the corner, the prospect of long months of snow-covered sidewalks can be particularly challenging for seniors.

Here are some tips to help Edmonton’s seniors.

·        Seniors are advised to plan now to arrange help with snow shoveling.  Ask family members or friends for help or register for snow shoveling service.  Snow shoveling services are listed below.

·        Community agencies that provide snow shoveling services to seniors are in serious need of helpers to meet the demands.  If you are interested in volunteering or making some money shoveling snow,  please contact:

City-wide
Seniors Association of Greater Edmonton (SAGE)  423-5510

Southside
Seniors Caring About Seniors  465-0311

Southwest
Lifestyle Helping Hands Seniors Association  450-2113

West Edmonton
Westend Seniors Activity Centre  483-1209

·        If you see neighbours, friends or family members in need snow-shoveling assistance, please offer a helping hand.
