As we come upon another budget year and I write my report for the board that attempts to explain the boundaries of accomplishment as set by our resources, I am forced to ponder the nature of the audience.
Though I have heard some voices claim that volunteerism is dead I beg to differ, especially after compiling the projects at our latest Community League Showcase.
We have champions who volunteer ceaselessly and can lead their co-conspirators to seemingly impossible accomplishments such as arts parks and multi million dollar recreation centers.
We have program genies who make events happen month after month and meet the needs of the folks in their community at all levels, safety, recreation, fitness, social activity and more.
We have initiators of movements who effect City policy and planning decisions, who change the way our city is lighted, or where cell phone towers are built, or the concentration of family and social housing in their neighbourhood, and who fight inappropriate development.
With just a touch on this performance we witness in so many leagues, it is clear that we can set the bar no lower. We all must rise to be the champions.
We all can make the seemingly impossible become the improbable, and eventually the reality just with the will and hard work of the many.

Working Together is the Key
Together we accomplish great things. Help us help you.
Participate in the programs we have put together that offer education or raise the profile city wide. Our Cultural Outreach and Next Gen programs were very undersubscribed - dare to take on new initiatives.
Give us your updated board lists after elections so we can keep you informed. We have improved our contact info but can do better!
Read the emails—don’t delete because you are so swamped. Scan for the note that just might be the gem your league is looking for.
And send us your recommendations. Services and suppliers who did a great job, new or original activities your league is undertaking, program development and training you may need, whatever your need, let us know. communications@efcl.org
