At the November 19 Community League Showcase, the energy and inspiration of the attendees was paramount and who could resist the appeal of compelling stories of original, innovative, and humanitarian projects we heard about. When compiling the photos, video clips and stories for the award presentations this year, I found myself awed, amazed, and touched again and again. The League Volunteers are a true breed of their own and the energy around our projects when we gathered at the Italian Cultural Center this November 19, 2011 was one of pride and joy.
Various volunteers not only felt grand satisfaction in being recognized for their own projects but applauded the successes of their peers. Together we build a great city and when at various moments through the evening we recognized the spirit of the league volunteer, cheers and applause would spontaneously erupt. We know why we do what we do!
A quick thank you for the wonderful evening. It was inspiring to be surrounded by such amazing people. We are truly a “City of Champions” ~ Danny Burrell , Castle Downs Recreation Society
“Thank you for the great evening last night. My team and I really enjoyed the dinner and were quite surprised to have our work recognized with a Living Local Program certificate. It was great to be among others who have worked in bringing something they are passionate about into their community. ~ David Rossolatos, Highlands Tennis
"It's a good time of the year to share the value and power of community leagues with folks, especially politicians!" ~ David Dodge, EFCL President. Read David's reflections on his two blogs:
