EFCL made calls to SOCAN and is sending a letter restating our position that although we recognize the SOCAN Tariffs as legitimate and recognize the leagues with halls have an obligation to pay the fees for certain uses of music in their halls, we do not purport to agree with the decision our government made especially since we were not consulted in the process.

We have stated firmly again that leagues are their own institutions and will choose as a board how they will handle their relationship with SOCAN. The only involvement EFCL has is recognizing that the tariff is a valid claim.

After many Leagues contacted us about the attitude of the SOCAN representative, we also emphasized that League Members are volunteers and many will have heard about this the first time.  We asked they soften the approach and treat our memberrs in a much more civil manner.
