Higher than expected swim rental rates may force some southwest community leagues to cancel their respective swim programs at Confederation pool.
In a recently held pool allocation meeting, a number of southwest Community Leagues raised the issue of excessive billing from Confederation Leisure Centre. “Though community swim is a great way to bring community together, it seems we may be unable to continue with swim program anymore because of high cost,” said Roger Plouffe, president of Duggan Community League.
The EFCL is working with the city to develop a bulk purchase rate, as well as a new system for booking swim times. The next meeting to discuss these topics has been set for 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the EFCL office (7103-105 Street).
In the meantime, any comments or suggestions should be forwarded to EFCL Community Development Officer Shahriyar Khan at Shahriyar.khan@efcl.org, or 780-437-2913.
