The City of Edmonton maintains a Sidewalk Strategy that guides the implementation of a functional pedestrian network that facilitates walkability. The Sidewalk Strategy provides a consistent approach to evaluating reported deficiencies to improve upon the existing network. Reported deficiencies are evaluated through set criteria helping to prioritize which deficiencies may be constructed.
The program operates on a request basis to ensure that the funds are directed in a fair and equitable manner and to balance the construction throughout Edmonton.
