The Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues has launched Phase Two of the hall assessment program. Following in the footsteps of Phase One, the audit will provide each league with information about the state of their hall, the cost to maintain and repair it in the future, along with a number of energy conservation tips. This program is open to any community league that is interested. Each league will be asked to contribute between $1,000 and $2,000, depending on the size of their hall.
In addition, the EFCL intends to use some of the funds in Phase 2 to assist leagues that require a more extensive examination of their hall. For example, it has been determined that in some cases the hall’s foundation was in very poor shape, which required a geotechnical analysis. Any league which requires this work will be asked to contribute 20% of the cost, with the EFCL contributing 30% (through funds supplied by the city) and the province the remaining 50%.
In order to take part in Phase 2, each community league will need to supply the EFCL with a cheque to cover the league’s portion of the cost. Each league will also need to apply for a Community Initiatives Program (CIP) grant for half of the cost of the audit. There is room in the program for 12 community leagues, which will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please feel free to contact EFCL executive director Allan Bolstad (437-2913) if you have any questions about the payment procedure.
