Leagues Asked to Sign on For Another Two Years:

Please note that Edmonton City Council recently approved a two-year extension to the standard license agreement most community leagues have signed with the City of Edmonton.
This agreement sets out the terms under which leagues are able to use the land the city has provided for their facilities and programs.
The reason for the short-term extension is to give the EFCL, its member leagues, and the city additional time to hammer out a new long term agreement. A task force is currently working on this in an attempt to develop a more flexible agreement that will meet the needs of leagues for many years to come.
Consequently, the EFCL is encouraging all leagues to sign the two-year extension to the existing agreement. Nothing has changed. The world will not collapse. The current working agreement we have with the city will simply continue to have a legal foundation, which is a good thing.
We will also keep you posted on the negotiations surrounding a new agreement. It is our plan to use a portion of our agenda at our next Annual General Meeting (April 19, Athlone Hall) to accomplish this.   It is also our hope to have something formal to present to our members at our Regular General Meeting next fall.
Please don’t hesitate to call (437-2913) or send an e-mail (Allan.Bolstad@efcl.org) if you have any questions.
