Steele Heights Discovers Senior Power

“Just two weeks after the Senior Volunteers completed the agreement with Steele Heights, I drove by the league and was amazed at the transformation,” said Councillor Caterina. “This group has energy and is the greatest thing that happened to the league in a long time.”
Grass was cut, grounds were cleaned, and the hall now has inhabitants reverberating with human energy. Seniors have the time, and a deep sense of community and commitment.
With a change of demographics in the neighbourhood, Steele Heights had been challenged in the past to find volunteers to help with the operations of the Community League. When a local Sikh Seniors Association approached council and the league for help with a place to meet and hold functions, a deal was struck between the two associations. The seniors become members of the league, volunteer with the league, and now have a place to meet in their community. It is a win-win situation.
This is not the only example of other associations making partnerships with leagues. Please share your space and share your stories of success to communications@efcl.org .
