Only Nine Leagues Book Ice Time

A paltry nine community leagues have taken up the city’s offer to book ice time at city arenas.
The tepid take up has prompted city staff to question whether the program is worthwhile.

“We not sure if it’s a case of disinterest or a lack of awareness,” noted city allocation consultant Dave Linman in a recent meeting with the EFCL. “That’s something we’d like to find out.”

Since the late 1980s, the city has been making 90 minutes per week of public skating in city arenas available to community leagues at the regular rental rates. Given the low take up rate, the city wants to know if community leagues are still interested and if there are changes that could make the program more attractive.

EFCL community development officer Shahriyar Khan (Shahriyar.Khan@efcl.org) would welcome any feedback from the leagues on this matter.  He will be sitting down with the city shortly to determine an appropriate course of action.
