Solar Energy Project In the Wings
By Valerie @ 3:10 PM :: 204 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Community Programs & Activities, EFCL News, Green Activities

The EFCL is working on a proposal that would provide solar energy systems along with energy and carbon audits for a number of Edmonton Community Leagues.

The proposal is being developed in partnership with members of the Solar Energy Society of Alberta and Gordon Howell, a local engineer heavily involved in the development of solar energy projects in Alberta.

The draft plan calls for the provision of a 1.2 KW (five panel) solar energy system on the roof of the league’s hall, along with an electronic display monitor that would show the power being generated and any other information the league would like to display.  Leagues would also receive comprehensive energy and carbon audits of their hall and advice on how they could reduce their energy consumption and utility bills.

The federation has held discussions with city staff and EPCOR on ways to reduce the cost of the program to Community Leagues.

The plan is slated for review and direction from the EFCL board of directors on January 12, 2012
