Leagues Inspired by Green Initiatives Presentations
By admin @ 5:14 PM :: 2030 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Community Programs & Activities, EFCL News, Resources, Green Activities

 For the Green Challenge Leagues that attended the presentation evening at Montrose Hall on March 19 there was a wheelbarrow full of information and inspiration from our six presenters. Funny enough it was the Grass Roots from our grass roots presentations that literally elicited gasps.

Did you know that true healthy lawns for our geographic region aren’t the traditional Kentucky Blue rather a combination of native growing plants that stay green without fertilizer or water with deep root systems? On the right you can see this perfect lawn for Alberta.
The presentations offered new practical ways to live better and make our communities a rich meaningful place where people want to be.
The presentations included:
Transition Towns – Live local with simple sound sustainability that is already in practice around the world. Excite, Engage, and Involve all the assets in your neighbourhood, including everyone from businesses to gardeners to artists. Gain new members, and grow a resilient community with a program that is worked in hundreds of neighbourhoods around the world. Presented by Marlon Davis
Eco Equity – finance your hall / home / business retrofit with a loan and pay for it with your energy savings – programs and grant information for everyone   Presented by Myles Kitigawa
Light Pollution – health & wellness and energy reduction programs to improve quality of life in your neighbourhood Presented by Donald Darnell, Light Efficiency Coalition
Local Motion – C02RE program in Parkallen produces a reduction rate in car trips beyond expectations! Presented by Ian Hosler, City of Edmonton, and Robert Kirchner, Parkallen CL
Enviro Perfect Solutions - Environmentally sound maintenace free, green green lawns –Make the right choices for your garden, park, and ground maintenance. Presented by Tim Penstone
Little Green Thumbs, Community Gardens & City Farm – Greening programs to start in your neighbourhood   Presented by Susan Penstone

If you missed the evening the presentations were captured on video and will be posted on our website in the near future so check the Green Challenge page on efcl.org often for these and other information updates.
