The Citizens’ Police Academy (CPA) is an exclusive opportunity for individuals with professional or personal interest in community policing to acquire knowledge on police issues, practices and operations in the City of Edmonton. When you participate in CPA, you will:
  • Make a difference in your community
  • Increase your knowledge of community policing
  • Discover crime prevention strategies
  • Better understand your police service

Citizens Police Academy is targeted to community leaders and concerned citizens who are trying to find resources to address issues of crime and disorder.  The next class will be targeting Communities north of the Yellowhead and east of 127th street and will have a ethnically diverse group of students. Classes will be held at Police Headquarters and Greisbach training facilities. Individual who are trying to find proactive ways to address crime and disorder, or wanting to know what role the police play in addressing these issues and how can police and community work together cooperatively are encouraged to apply. The program can facilitate 40 participants.  Priority is given to those who are currently working in organizations and are able to pass the information received in the class to other members of their groups.
