Some time ago the leagues were asked to participate in a survey that was intended to draw results on issues, concerns, and roles of leagues, EFCL’s role and support methods, preferred methods of communication and engagement. The results have been tallied and the final report is online.
The following are key points arising from the 496 respondents:

  • Role of the league - 49% indicated the role of a community league was to provide low cost activities & events, while 32 % indicated leagues organizae sports and recreation
  • Top issues - No surprise 91% of the respondents consider volunteer recruitment the number one issue, with community safety and crime prevention coming in second at 88%. 62% agreed that EFCL focus includes issues with a city wide implication for community leagues.
  • Communication - Newsletters are still number one with 92% indicating this is how the league informs its members, with meetings in the middle, and 54% that use email. 64% of respondents felt email was the effective method for EFCL to communicate, while only 41% said the bimonthly newsletter was preferred. Leagues felt committees were less effectual for engaging leagues than EFCL meeting with league executives.
Complete report is uploaded to www.efcl.org/Resources/Resource Library when it becomes available.
