École J. H. Picard is located at 7055 99 Street, serving all of Edmonton’s full-French Immersion Catholic high school students, as well as junior and elementary students. The J. H. Picard School community has developed a tradition of supporting worthy causes.  They have now furthered their battle against cancer through their involvement with IronTeam - Cops for Cancer and the Canadian Cancer Society in the third annual Cops for Cancer École JH Picard Bike-a-thon, on February 23, 2012.

IronTeam - Cops for Cancer; is a group of police officers, teachers and other community members from across Canada, who have dedicated themselves to raising $1,500,000 in 2011-2012 for the Canadian Cancer Society.  They hope to achieve their goal through extensive fundraising activities and participation in the 2012 Ironman Canada Triathlon.

Many of École J.H. Picard’s Elementary/Junior & High School staff, students and family members have been affected by cancer. The efforts of the students, staff and the community in our two previous bike-a-thons have resulted in donations to in the Canadian Cancer Society in excess of $36,000. In an effort to overcome this devastating disease, “Picardians” are setting a goal for this year’s Bike-a-Thon at $30,000, higher than in years past due to increased participant numbers. The École JH Picard event is growing!

The Bike-a-Thon will consist of teams of approximately 12 people.  Every participant commits to raising and submitting donations that exceed $100 in support of the Canadian Cancer Society, by February 16, 2012.  All charitable donations in excess of $ 20 receive tax receipts from the Canadian Cancer Society.  During the event, team members will take turns riding stationary bikes in the gym for 12 hours continuously from 9:00am to 9:00pm on Thursday, February 23rd.

Please consider supporting this valuable cause with a charitable donation to the Canadian Cancer Society through your École JH Picard student Bike-a-Thon student or staff team member. Their involvement with the IronTeam and the school community in an effort to help battle cancer is truly remarkable. In addition, the event organizers are seeking sponsorships to aid in staging the event. Three levels of sponsorship offer advertising opportunities during the event. Please contact the organizers below for more information.

Together we can make a difference, thank you for your support!
