New Tool to Help Students Pass Learner’s Test

“Mom, I can’t believe I passed!” is what 15 year old Luke said, repeatedly, to his mother on the way home from a west Edmonton registry. Luke is an intelligent and athletic youth who was afraid to write the test. With a failure rate of more than 66%, most individuals don’t pass the test the first time. Luke’s two older sisters each required two tries to pass their exam. When asked if he felt the Learner Licence Prep Kit helped, he said “Yeah, I wouldn’t have passed without it.”

The Learner’s Licence Prep Kits contain a series of study cards that provide a question on one side and the answer on the other. Individuals who are preparing for their Learner’s test are encouraged to study the cards section by section, dividing the cards into two piles; the “I know it” pile, and the “I don’t know it” pile. Additional advantages of the study cards are that they contain:
·         Condensed information formatted for ease of learning and understanding
·         Study tips
·         Definitions and explanations of unfamiliar terms
·         Clear graphics
·         Color-coded by sections to match the Driver’s Handbook
·         Convenient carrying case for portability
The Prep Kits are sold through the same registries where individuals write the Learner’s tests. Not all registries carry the Kits yet so it is best to call ahead to ensure the product is available. For more information about the Prep Kits, visit your local registry or www.LDAlberta.ca.
