The City of Edmonton has launched a small business Eco-Challenge. Winners will be recognized during Small Business Week in October, during which time we would also like to credit our partners for their participation.

Read a brief outline below, and more specific details including full contest rules and registration details can be found on the challenge website at: www.edmonton.ca/EcoChallenge
The Small Business Eco Challenge celebrates the environmental achievements of small business operating in Edmonton.
The challenge began on June 20, 2011. Participants will have until September 30, 2011 to submit their entry (allowing time to adopt as many green practices as possible before entering the challenge).
Challenge entries will be judged in relation to the six priority areas identified by stakeholders in the City's environmental strategic plan The Way We Green:
  • Energy and Climate Change
  • Food Resiliency (protection of local food supply or agriculture)
  • Solid Waste Reduction
  • Land Conservation and Biodiversity
  • Water Quality Protection and Conservation
  • Air Quality
Benefits of participation include:
  • Learning how others have adopted innovative green business practices,
  • Connecting with local business networks and the green economy,
Winners can:
  • Position themselves in the emerging green marketplace through a Small Business Eco-Challenge media release and award,
  • Showcase their business’s green practices in the City of Edmonton’s CO2RE newsletter and on our challenge webpage,
  • Receive a certificate of recognition,
  • Win a cash prize of up to $500.
