The real commitment is in continuing programming and education at a community level to spread the word. Westmount Community League has hosted educational Video Series & Discussion Groups, worked with the Jim Diers Neighbourhood program to cooperate with their local school on a community garden, and become a leading example of the Transition Network. Parkallen and Grow Forward Grovenor have led the way with unprecedented educational programs, cooperation with Operation Fruit Rescue and have found the league revitalized with new blood because of the interest living a simpler greener local life can generate in the community! Sustainability Directors have popped up in Queen Mary Park, Riverdale, Glenora and word is spreading. Leagues are planning resilient halls and 43 have signed up for the Green Challenge to commit to a lower carbon footprint.
