Leagues Disagree with City Administration on Body Rub Centre Locations
The results are in for the survey that EFCL conducted over the last 10 days on the Body Rub Centre Bylaw changes.  The vast majority of league leaders who responded to the survey believe that community halls and other recreation facilities should be separated from Body Rub Centres.   City Administration disagrees.  Read more about the results . . .
Residential Mixed Dwelling Zone Raises Concerns
EFCL organized a May 16th information and feedback session for leagues wanting to review the proposed new RMD Zone.   This zone is being proposed by a developer, and supported by City Administration.  It is a combination of low density zones which include small lot single detached housing zones, duplexes/semi-detached housing and row housing.  At least two types of housing would be developed on every street.  Developers could choose any one of these housing types, rather than having to rezone, in order to respond quickly to the market. 
MLAs ask for Audience with League Leaders

The EFCL has arranged a meeting with the Edmonton MLA's for purposes of discussion, questions, and chatting to get to know your representatives in a speed dating environment, allowing everyone to speak with the representatives. The meeting will be hosted at Twin Parks Community League, 20 Park Ridge Crescent, (click for map), from 5:30pm. On Saturday, June 1, David Gibbens received an honorable mention at the Lieutenant Governor's Outstanding Community Leader Awards for his many years of work in so many capacities as a Community Leader.

Super Volunteers Go Above and Beyond in Vietnam
Castledowns Recreation Society has completed their second playground installation abroad in Vietnam.  Not wanting to waste a perfectly good playground, they dismantled their old playground, packed it up and shipped it to Vietnam, paid their own way, and assembled it there - much to the joy of the locals!   Super story!  And great pictures . . .
Rossdale Community League Takes On Solar

Dandelion Renewables is very busy this week installing solar panel systems at Rossdale, Riverdale, West Jasper, Ritchie. This very important program is a move toward sustainability and again proves how Leagues are often leadersof change and solid community planning around our city.
